The CRFIM is a maritime information fusion center for the East, Southern Africa and Indian Ocean region hosted within the Malagasy National Maritime Information Fusion Center (CFIM) following the headquarters agreement signed between the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) and the Malagasy Government on February 18, 2016.

Regional Coordination Operations Center (RCOC)
Facilitates the exchange and fusion of maritime information over an area stretching from the Cape of Good Hope (South Africa) to the Bab-El-Mandeb Strait (Djibouti), thus contributing to the fight against illegal activities and crimes committed at sea.

The Secretariat serves as the central administrative hub for the Regional Maritime Security Architecture. Since its inception, it has been instrumental in coordinating efforts between member states and international partners. It ensures the smooth flow of communication, manages logistical support for operations, and oversees the implementation of security protocols across the Indian Ocean region.
Through the integration of modern technologies and strategic partnerships, the Secretariat continues to modernize maritime surveillance and response capabilities, ensuring a safer and more secure maritime domain for all stakeholders.
